Jigowatts Forms Strategic Partnership with Mai Hoa Holdings to Expand EV Charging Infrastructure in Vietnam with Made-in-Japan Technology
~Supporting the World's EV Infrastructure with Technology Originating in Japan
TOKYO, Japan – Jigowatts Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Tomoki Shibata, “Jigowatts”), a Made in Japan EV charger manufacturer, announced today the signing of a strategic partnership agreement with Mai Hoa Holdings Co.,Ltd (Headquarters: Hanoi, Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Representative Director: Tran Cong Hoa, “MHH”). MHH is a Vietnamese company engaged in environmental businesses. This partnership, formalized on February 24, 2025, aims to significantly enhance the EV charging environment and boost EV adoption across Vietnam.
Vietnam’s Growing EV Market Potential
The Vietnamese government is actively implementing policies to promote EV adoption, striving to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. In 2024, new EV sales in Vietnam reached approximately 87,000 units, accounting for over 15% of the domestic automobile market. The government plans to have over 2.8 million EVs on the road by 2035.
However, EV charging infrastructure development remains insufficient. Although approximately 150,000 charging points have been installed—primarily in urban areas—most are en-route charging stations. There is still a significant shortage of base charging (such as at homes or workplaces) and destination charging facilities. In response, the government is moving forward with subsidy programs, including support for electricity tariffs at EV charging stations.
Purpose and Outlook of the Strategic Partnership
Through this alliance, Jigowatts and MHH will jointly drive the expansion of EV charging infrastructure across Vietnam, supporting the growth of the EV market.
Jigowatts’ Role
Development and Provision of EV Chargers
Jigowatts will develop and supply AC chargers (normal chargers) specifically suited for the Vietnamese market, contributing to an improved charging environment for local EV users.
Introduction of Energy Management Technology
The company will provide an Energy Management System (EMS) to support efficient operation of charging infrastructure, optimizing Vietnam’s power load.
Deployment of “PIYO CHARGE” Billing and Management System
Based on its “PIYO CHARGE” system for unified EV charging billing and management, Jigowatts will customize it for Vietnam, enhancing convenience for EV users.
MHH’s Role
Expansion of Charging Stations in Vietnam
MHH will leverage Jigowatts’ technology and products to support the deployment of charging stations in commercial facilities, public facilities, and multi-unit dwellings.
Integration with Local Infrastructure
MHH aims to collaborate with Vietnamese energy providers and local authorities to further expand the EV charging infrastructure.
Social Impact of This Partnership
Enhanced Charging Convenience for EV Users
Expanding charging infrastructure beyond urban areas to rural regions will significantly improve convenience for EV users.
Standardization and Efficiency of the EV Charging Infrastructure Market
Utilizing Jigowatts’ energy management technology will boost the operational efficiency of chargers.
Further Growth of the EV Market
This partnership will support the Vietnamese government’s EV adoption target (over 2.8 million units by 2035), contributing to a sustainable society.
Future Developments
Jigowatts and MHH plan to begin installing EV chargers in Vietnam within 2025. They will also work on introducing new technologies tailored to local needs and flexibly deploying EV charging infrastructure, contributing to the development of the EV charging market.
Through this partnership, Jigowatts will make a full-scale entry into the Vietnamese market, aiming to establish itself as a leading company in global EV charging infrastructure.
