Jigowatts Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Tomoki Shibata) opened a cashless cafe “ROBOTS.COFFEE” in Nihonbashi Bakurocho, where robots reproduce barista skills and serve coffee, today December 2018. We will start the demonstration experiment from the 11th (Tuesday).
Various credit cards, transportation IC cards, iD, QUICPay, and PayPay can be used with the self-ordering and self-payment KIOSK developed in-house.

In addition, the “ROBOTS.COFFEE” campaign will be held on the crowdfunding site “Makuake” from December 11, 2018 (Tuesday) to January 31, 2019 (Thursday).

A state-of-the-art coffee experience created by robots

Development background

Hand-drip coffee extraction is done by a skilled barista, so even if it’s the same kind of beans, it’s possible to have different soup stocks depending on your mood and the sweets you’ll like at that time. However, it is very difficult to provide it to many people stably because it requires not only skill but also concentration and an environment where the drip is not disturbed.

In order to solve this problem, ROBOTS.COFFEE reproduces the hand-dripping technology cultivated by skilled baristas over many years, and provides a more familiar and stable way to enjoy “truly delicious coffee” that you cannot normally enjoy easily. By doing so, we believe that it will not only improve the customer’s coffee experience, but also help solve the shortage of human resources in the food and beverage industry.

A robot reproduces the hand drip of a professional barista in front of the customer and provides delicious coffee.
However, it is not completely unmanned. Human staff will set the filter paper and dripper, pour it from the server to the cup, and serve it to the customer. This is a hybrid store where machines work together.

Cashless
Self-ordering and self-payment KIOSK developed in-house is installed at the store entrance. You can pay with various cashless payment methods at the time of ordering. Currently, various credit cards, transportation IC cards, iD, QUICPay, and PayPay can be used.
When the order is selected, it is transferred to the terminal in the kitchen in real time, and the robot and the person work together to prepare the customer’s cup.

About crowdfunding

Furthermore, in order to widely provide an unprecedented cutting-edge coffee experience, we will start a project on the crowdfunding site “Makuake”.
At the grand opening after the end of the project, we will prepare to provide the following new coffee experiences.
